چکیده

Abstract Graphene oxide (GO) membranes have been proved to be ion-selective thanks their oxidized functional groups, which are naturally present on its surface. This ion selectivity, together with good mechanical strength, low cost, and simple synthesis, makes GO a great alternative material conventional costly polymers for the production of ion-exchange membranes. work focuses how produce as scalable approach tunable permselectivity. Their physicochemical properties were subsequently investigated by means selected characterization techniques. Results showed that selectivity size exclusion towards monovalent cations, reaching permselectivity up 96%. Interestingly, UV-light irradiation can also proposed green reduction method. increases due both decrease in dimension nanochannels swelling degree The addition binders was improve membranes’ properties. Finally, ionic resistance measured impedance spectroscopy, achieving 4.6 Ω cm 2 , orders magnitude lower than state-of-the-art graphene oxide-based

Specific ion effects on membrane potential and the permselectivity of ion exchange membranes.

Membrane potential and permselectivity are critical parameters for a variety of electrochemically-driven separation and energy technologies. An electric potential is developed when a membrane separates electrolyte solutions of different concentrations, and a permselective membrane allows specific species to be transported while restricting the passage of other species. Ion exchange membranes ar...

Ionic resistance and permselectivity tradeoffs in anion exchange membranes.

Salinity gradient energy technologies, such as reverse electrodialysis (RED) and capacitive mixing based on Donnan potential (Capmix CDP), could help address the global need for noncarbon-based energy. Anion exchange membranes (AEMs) are a key component in these systems, and improved AEMs are needed in order to optimize and extend salinity gradient energy technologies. We measured ionic resista...

Microfluidic systems with ion-selective membranes.

When integrated into microfluidic chips, ion-selective nanoporous polymer and solid-state membranes can be used for on-chip pumping, pH actuation, analyte concentration, molecular separation, reactive mixing, and molecular sensing. They offer numerous functionalities and are hence superior to paper-based devices for point-of-care biochips, with only slightly more investment in fabrication and m...
